Interview: Meg-chan
The creator behind the story WT Saga, Meg-chan
Kamipress: What do you think about when making a Kamishibai story?
Meg-chan: "Well, mostly I'm not just thinking, I'm tearing out my hair and having hissy fits if I can't get that perfect look to a picture. ^-^ Other than that, I try to think about what would make the story interesting and what makes half-decent eye-candy. I also have this certain obsession for using the right words at the right time. "
Kamipress: What is the hardest part (for you) about making a Kamishibai story?
Meg-chan: "Well, the art is probably the hardest part. It seems to take forever to figure out how all of them will look, and how they will coincide with the story. Some days I'll have trouble thinking of anything... those are what I call my four-letter-word days. ^-~"
Kamipress: What's your favorite part of making a Kamishibai story?
Meg-chan: "The illustrations, despite the hassle they are most of the time. I love
coming up with wild hair styles for my characters. I'm a sucker for bright
colours. I have this thing for bright red hair. ^-^ I also just love getting
feedback. ^-^"
Kamipress: How did get into Kamishibai?
Meg-chan: "I was just kind of browsing Otaku World, and I came across this wonderfull
page with all sorts of kawaii anime stories. When I read Firefly-Sempai's
first installment of "Questors", I just knew that I wanted to try it. And so
far, I've tried six times; finishing six kamis... and then my computer
crashes and I lose 'em. Let's just hope all goes well this time. ^-^"
Kamipress: What are some of the things that influenced WT Saga?
Meg-chan: "Well, it was mainly anime and manga. When my best friend and I started the
base story for WT, I was only 7 years old. Everything from "Astro-Boy" to
"Sailor Moon" is in the mix, but there's also alot of CLAMPish stuff, too. I
even think that at some point in time "Power Rangers" was an influence. ^-^
You have no idea how embarrassing that is. *^-^*"
Kamipress: Who are some of your favorite Kamishibai artists?
Meg-chan: "I am a huuuuuge fan of my Sempai, Firefly. She's one of my key inspirations.
Chibi Alex-chan is another one. I adore her stories, and her art is so
bright and lively. ^-^ Kodachi Batchix is amazing, too. If you've read "The
Trouble With Banshees..." and "Rapunzel", you know what I mean. Wow! ^-^
Another of my latest favourites is WarpZone. Mecha Club is excellent!"
Kamipress: So what are some of the Kamishibai you're considering for the future?
Meg-chan: "Hmm.... I don't know. I'm trying my best to stick to the WT Saga, and maybe
the odd WT Times. But I would really like to try an adaption of one of the
short stories I've written (they're available on my website). Maybe even a
Prozzak one someday...? Who knows. Anyone got any suggestions? ^-^"
Kamipress: What are your favorite animes?
Meg-chan: "Uh oh. Big question.... here we go. I'm gonna ramble!... Magic Knight
Rayearth, Sailor Moon, Pokimon, Astroboy, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, Dragon
Half, Slayers, Ghost in he Shell, Saint Tail, Bakuretsu Hunter, Oh My
Goddess, Ranma 1/2, You're Under Arrest, Hello Kitty, Vampire Princess Miyu,
Macross, Dominion Tank Police, and Kerropi. I love all of it. The only anime
I didn't like was Wings of Honnasimse or something like that. BORING! ^-~"
Kamipress: So do you have any additional comments, concerns, or thoughts for us?
Meg-chan: "As far as comments are concerned, I would like to thank everyone for putting
up with all my jabbering. ^-^ Also, I would really like it if more people
would visit my website and sign my guestbook!!! ^-~ Concerns... well.... I
don't have any right now. I imagine I will in five minutes or so, but not
right now. ^-^ Thoughts? What are those? ^-~ Oh, wait, here's one.... Happy
holidays to everyone! ^-^"
Thanks for your time Meg-chan.
